Endless Summer Model

Undoubtedly, the world’s introduction to the surf movie genre is Bruce Brown’s epic, “The Endless Summer.” In an unforgettable tale, Mike Hynson and Robert August tour the world in a noble pursuit of sun and surf. Both surfers were of equal talent, but Hynson was one of Hobie’s prized team riders. Hynson, a native of San Diego county, shaped surfboards and was well-known for his extra-cool style. Almost the same age, Mike was Robert’s perfect counterpart and they welcomed the world to the machine-like rights of Cape St. Francis. Today, Hynson continues to shape surfboards in and around Encinitas, CA. He is credited with many designs from his Gordon and Smith Red Fin Model, some of the first noserider concepts, and the late 60’s downrailers. According to many, including Gerry Lopez, Hynson deserves recognition for his wave-riding innovations. As one of Mike’s early contributors, Hobie is honored to offer the model that started it all. This board is an excellent rider, as well as, sought after by many surfboard collectors. This is your chance to remember surfing’s past and begin your own pursuit for “The Endless Summer.”
