I also have an Aqua Terra Toy Box without an end cap.

What is the Toy Box made of?

The lip on the open end (where the end cap fits) has become brittle and part of it has broken off. Is there any adhesive that will stick to this plastic?

Rotomolded Polyethylene. You can weld it. Very little sticks to it. Some epoxies adhere when surfaces are rough, but bonds are not great.

5200 is mosty a sealant. Not really adhesive. G/Flex Epoxy maybe.

I have fixed my plastic toy box withe the G Flex epoxy and it has held up well. I fixed broken and cracked flanges about 4 or 5 years ago. Still holding up well.

Here's how I dealt with the back cap latch/security and leaking lid issues.

Removed and junked the original cap latches as they were worthless. Replaced them with hardware store hasps.

To keep the cap from rattling around I installed kayak hooks and bungees similar to the current Hobie design.

To eliminate leaks at the front lid I got a 55 gallon plastic drum and made a MAGNUM lid, then secured it with bungees.

I used this product (Home Depot or Lowes) to make a gasket/seal at the back end, inside, about an inch in from the edge (not visible in the photo)

I've been using the toybox in this configuration now for more than a year with zero leaks or security issues.

I made a fairly simple rear lid for mine out of plywood and bungy it on, similar to above,
also have a leash for it. Must be painted and/or epoxied to seal edges.. mine has held up
for a while now..doug
