How exactly does one go about fixing the hole in the Jib?

I really can't say I know. Your best bet would be to find a local sail loft to do the repair, then you would know it is repaired correctly. I know there is sail repair tape available from several websites, but I cannot attest to its strength or durability. Try West Marine online.

edit: On second thought, I just don't believe a sail repair tape or kit would do the trick. If there is not a loft near where you live, then remove the battens, pack her up and ship to a loft for repair. I believe it would be money well spent in the long run. A correct repair may last years. If not repaired correctly, the jib would most likely not last long forcing you to find another one at a consiberable expense. Of course I could be wrong. Maybe others will chime in that have had similar issues.

If you are going to mail your sails off for repair, I recommend Mariner Sails in Dallas, http://www.mariner-sails.com. They are a Hobie dealer, know your boat backwards and forwards, and have their own sail loft. They've done repair work on my H20 sails and I was very pleased.

So I'm getting the boat. She's throwing in the cat trax, and 2 trapezes and harnesses. I'm picking it up soon!

Any sail maker could easily patch the jib for a very reasonable price. I think it would be worth the cost to get the corner of the main repaired at the same time, that corner takes quite a load.

Nice looking boat. Price sounds very good. Sailmaker can easily fix the jib problem. Get new sheets. They look a little fat and sun damaged. Invest in a good cover or keep it garaged. Sun is #1 enemy of a cat. Keep sails dry and in a sailbag out of sun when not in use. Lazy sailors get bleached sun damaged sails. Have fun, looks great!

Way to go! You need to post some sailing pics when you get a chance.

Take it to a sail maker.
