Where do you store the Mirage Drive while on the water?

Hey Guys! Been a while since I've posted. I've put a lot of miles and a lot of fish on my Revo over the past 6 months. One thing I've noticed, the Revo doesn't paddle worth a crap while the drive is in place - even with fins folded flat. If I take the drive out and use the cassete, the boat is much easier to paddle. I end up doing this more than I would like, because I like to fish shallow water in the marsh. SO that poses the question, where the hell do you put the thing while your're not using it but you're still on the water? Everywhere I've tried seems to get in the way. Really, about the only place it can go is in the tank well, then good luck putting anything else in there with it. I usually keep a 36 QT cooler in the tank well so I was thinking about trying to rig up a bungee system to somehow attach it to the cooler. I always keep it leashed, so I'm not worried about loosing it. Anyone have a creative storage Idea? Thanks!

The mirage drive will fit easily in the front hatch of the Revolution with standard or ST fins. Turbo fins make the fit tighter but not impossible. With pedals toward the bow spread the fins slightly to go each side of the mast sleeve and you will get the drive in the hatch with a little maneuvering.

I have mounted back to back padeyes through bolted on each side of the mast sleeve for leashes. For a quick removal I stand the mirage drive pedals down and bungee it up against the mast/hatch with fins skyward. Insert the cassette which I have leashed inside the hatch for quick retrieval (parachute chord tied to a small brass eye screw that I I screwed into top of the cassette) then paddle till need the drive again.

You could also add padeyes so that you could bungee the drive atop the front hatch. Of course a leash on your drive at all times to prevent loss.

I stand corrected. The Mirage drive will fit in the hatch of a Revolution with Regular or ST fins but not the Turbo fins if you have the cam lock system. The Cam screw posts keep the Turbo fins from going in far enough to fit the entire drive in the hatch. I do not know about the click & go system. If the click & go have a support that extends to the bottom of the hull most likely the Turbo fins will not fit in the hatch either. But there are alternatives as I mentioned.

You can set you mirage drive a few ways to be out of the way.

#1) standing the drive pedals down and bungee. The pedals fit nicely into the foot wells.






my back to back padeyes from inside hatch with cassette leashed. Swim Noodles for positive flotation.



#2) Lay pedals across hatch with fins vertical between legs works like a charm. I just did a 7 mile kayak tour and decided to paddle half the trip and this worked exceptionally well. I even forgot my bungee and it stayed put but I was on calm waters.

Dang Revo I thought I had missed something when I couldn't get my turbo's in the hatch, but didn't try real hard. Ok so they won't fit, oh well.

But your pic#2 is cool, will have to try that.
