Skipshot:

Mine laces across the back, like the 18 ones. It gets the tramp real tight. Guess new tramps aren't designed like the old 16's?

I could be wrong here but I think all Hobie tramps except the H20 and getaway are all 3 piece. There are aftermarket tramps that are 1 piece but they are not class leagal.

Unless you are planning to go to the Nationals, no one cares about your tramp. I have never seen anyone say anything.

I Agree with that last statement, maybe a midwinters is the only other event you need to be worried about.

Or any of the other Area Championships across the US.

If you showed up with a boat you just purchased with an aftermarket tramp, I'm not sure many would complain. If you're going to race open events and not Hobie sanctioned knock yourself out.

I've owned eight Hobies and only the one I bought specifically for parts (sat outside for Lord knows how many years) and the one a 300 pound man jumped on with one foot have had tramp failure. So, I personally don't understand the complaints.

Spend a few extra dollars and get the best thing your money can buy, a Hobie trampoline. Did I mention these tramps are 13 to 31 years in age and still going strong? Hell, ask around (check eBay, Craigs List) maybe you can find a used one, with a little care they last a long time.

Hey all-

I just bought a brand new hobie tramp for my 16 a little over a month ago and only paid $300 for a mesh (Saved $150). I was able to get it at an end of season sale event. Of course living in Minnesota we can't sail all year round so I have the opprtunity for these sale events. But I think if you look around or wait for you'd have a good chance of buying a hobie branded tramp on sale or clearance somewhere. Just a thought.
