If you showed up with a boat you just purchased with an aftermarket tramp, I'm not sure many would complain. If you're going to race open events and not Hobie sanctioned knock yourself out.
I've owned eight Hobies and only the one I bought specifically for parts (sat outside for Lord knows how many years) and the one a 300 pound man jumped on with one foot have had tramp failure. So, I personally don't understand the complaints.
Spend a few extra dollars and get the best thing your money can buy, a Hobie trampoline. Did I mention these tramps are 13 to 31 years in age and still going strong? Hell, ask around (check eBay, Craigs List) maybe you can find a used one, with a little care they last a long time.
