Florida Cat for Sale without Title?

I found a 16 foot cat someone is selling but they do not have a title for it, only their paperwork from when they bought it. I believe in FL they are supposed to have a title but I am not sure, should I even consider buying it?

You don't need a title for a small unpowered boat in FL. I've had three Hobies, only one came with a title. I technically still own it despite having sold it years ago- the guy never transferred the title to himself.

Is a non-powered vessel required to be registered and titled?
If the non-motor powered vessel is less than 16 feet in length, it is not required to be registered or titled. However, if the vessel is 16 feet or more in length, it is required to be registered and titled.

Are you sure it's a Hobie 16? All the ones I've seen are Hobie 15.9s. I've been sailing mine for years and never had any issues with no registration.

Agreed.... its a 15.9' Sailboat. I'm sure there's a hell of a lot of power boats and jet ski's to keep them busy.
