If facing aft... the tiller will not rest on the tramp. It is suspended in air because the hinge binds on the yoke.
AND....if you switch the hiking stick over during tacking by making a quick flip with your hand very close to the yoke (between the crossbar and stick)...it will pinch the !@#$%%^ out of you. Believe me, I know.
Interestingly, my '98 H-16 (I bought in '05) has a "PORT" sticker on the crossbar....problem is it's on the wrong side. After getting pinched a time ot two, I did a little research and found that the hole should be tilted forward.
