OK Like it or not, my question remains... is it a $15K or a $20K boat or even a +$20K boat??
I like it, I do own a Getaway and I have sailed that boat to the edge and back, and I'm looking for more. I have sailed H16, H18, Tigers other F18's and even a N20. The F18 fits the need for my new boat among the boats I just mentioned. However I'm afraid of the rigging time, since I do a lot of pleasure and spontaneous sailing from docks and beaches. I'd also like a spinnaker or a hooter, and like the idea of the furling "spinnaker" or hooter in this case. Single handing occasionally a spinnaker with a snuffer would be a handful, but a with a furling spinnaker and jib that fear is gone.
The Pearl seems to be using modified Tiger hulls, and I've been surprised at the durability of the Tiger hulls, so I'm not worried about it being to fragile for my use.
I've been pleased with the performance of the Getaway, sailed right it can keep up with an older H16, especially when it gets choppy and the added buoyancy keeps the bow out of the water.. Top notated GPS speed on the Getaway is 15.9kts I've been there twice and every time, the bow digs in and I do a 180, two up I can't get it above 15.9kt... my crew does not like the chase for 16kts anymore and we stop at 15kts now
The last part was for those of you disliking the Getaway and never trying it, or listening/observing perhaps a not so skilled skipper.
