You know how when you are sailing when there isn't a whole lot of wind and you encounter somebodys wake, the mast will yank against the shrouds in a way that can't be to healthy for the hardware? Well, today I figured out that if you pull on one shroud (take up the slack basically) during that situation, it eases that snatching action, making it more comfortable for me and passengers, and less of a shock on the shrouds and their attaching hardware. I'm sure all of you know this already.... I'm a newbie! My question is, is there a change I should make to my rigging that would help out this situation, or is there some add-on bungee gizmo that people use to perform this? Thanks!

Other than the rig being tight? At rest, the H16 rig should be pretty tight. That is achieved by significant effort on the jib halyard tension. Otherwise... I too have grabbed the shroud and let my body help absorb some of the shock. Pointing into the boat wake helps a bunch. Getting hit broadside is the worst.
