It is with the deepest of sadness that it was announced that Hobie L Alter passed away on the 29th March 2014 at 80 years of age. Hobie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. While we all mourn the loss of this truly inspirational man we pass on our condolences to the Alter family. Hobie’s wife Susan, his sisters Carolyn and Lillian, his daughter Paula and her partner Ian, son Hobie Jr. and his wife Stephanie, son Jeff and his wife Laurie, grandchildren Cortnie and husband Dylan, Brittany, Scotty, Cody, Ashlyn, Tyler, Noelle and Justin, great-granddaughter Serena. While there will be many tributes written about this great man none will capture all he means to us. All of us have the privilege to sail the boat that bears his name. There are so many tributes that have flowed in about Hobie that it is impossible to collate them all. Each one of has our own story on how Hobie sailing has changed our lives for the better. While the world will mourn the loss of a great man who gave to so many the joy of watersports, we individually lost so much more.
