The Hobie Europeans has been run and it was another fantastic Hobie event. Well done to all the sailors and organizers for making the Hobie Europeans such a great Hobie event. It is also the first major Hobie event that had tracking. Well done to the group who found the sponsorship to have the tracking for the Hobie Dragoon racing. Interesting results have over half the Hobie Wild Cat sailors were mixed crews. The first three podium winners in the Hobie 16 Gold Fleet will continue their battle at the Pan Am Games.
Hobie 16 Asian Championships are about to start in Weihai, China, September 6th to 14th. There are large range FREE boats available that are in excellent condition. The Weihai Government is putting a big effort into increasing Hobie sailing in China. It will be another spectacular event. The new host hotel is is offering rooms from 60USD per person per day. Everyone is invited from Asia and around the world. This will also be the first Chinese Hobie National Championships. So there will be great pride in having your name on the trophy first. If you contact the hosts there may be some last minutes deals the Weihai Government can do for you to get you to the 1st China Hobie Championships and Hobie Asian Championships.
2011 Fiji Hobie Challenge and Oceanic Challenge has been run and from the photos posted it looks like a great event. Congratulations to former Hobie 16 World Champion Mick Butler sailing with his son Patrick in winning the Fiji Challenge. A long distance race with over 19 hours on the water for the winners. It is wonderful to see another generation of Hobie sailors coming through the ranks. Thanks to Belinda Zanesco for the excellent action photos. Check out the web site for more photos from the event.
Tanzacat 2011 will start 2-11 September. This world acclaimed event has included the Zanzibar Raid. With a limited number of brand new Hobie Tiger and Hobie 16 has attracted a good fleet of international sailors.
XXXV Brazilian Hobie Cat 16 Championship and XXXIX Brazilian Hobie Cat 14 Championship have been announced October 29 --- November 05, 2011. The host location Buzios, has been nominated as one of the top-10 most beautiful places in the world only 2 hours from Rio de Janeiro.
